Database Basics - Session 1
Todays session was run by Kim Prasertsuksom on developing a database. Kim covered Database Terminology, creating a database in MS Access and also creating a table by importing data from a text (ASCII) file. Her presentation focussed on setting up a table by determining the columns (fields) and their associated data types. Thanks Kim for a really informative session.

Algorithm Design - ICAB4225
There was another Adobe Connect Session today which was run once again by Barry Collier this time on Algorithm Design. This session went relatively smoothly thanks to Barry's support crew (student, Kevin & teacher Eve) who provided timely reminders on recording the session. The session provides an introduction to designing programs albeit with a rather advanced example. You can view it by accessing the link to the right.

Doctype, Validating & Web Site File Structures
Another Adobe Connect session was run yesterday morning by Barry Collier. This session built on the previous one this time covering HTML topics on the Doctype element, Validating pages and setting up a file structure for a web site. Once again it was well attended with 18 students attending. There were at least 28 accounted for in the previous session by the way.
This time Barry's computer didn't run out of battery (though it nearly did as he hadn't switch the power point on) he did forget however to record the session. Which he didn't realise until the end (talk about the absent minded professor). He was most disappointed about this as I am sure you all were too.
Thankfully one student, John, recorded it on his computer and has made the recording available to OTEN. Thanks John you're a legend and Barry says he is most grateful. It is a AVI file it and runs fine in Windows Media player (the current and previous versions). The catch is it is rather a large file at 160.5 megabytes. You can down load a zipped version of the file using the link to to the right.
Make sure log onto next week's session to see what other mischief Barry gets up to.

Basic HTML
Barry Collier ran a session on HTML this morning which was really well attended and received. During the session Barry's Notebook shut down (battery went flat - don't worry he has given an assurance that he'll make sure that the charger is plugged in next time) but to his supprise everyone remained logged in. A link to a recording of the session is to the right.
Missing Recordings
Where did all of the recordings go? Unfortunately the majority of Adobe Connect Sessions the Information Technology Teaching section has done over the past few years have been lost.
This occured because of a server upgrade. The sessions we are proposing for this Semester will hopefully go some way in addressing our lost recordings. The image identifies which recordings were lost (the ones crossed out).
